Veggie Burger

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

My grandma makes these veggie patties and they are truly amazing. Definitely worth a try if you aren't fond of vegetables. I only like broccoli really, but these patties make me forget I hate other vegetables. This does get a little messy, so read my footnote, but if you're cooking at home, all that really matters is taste.

No common allergens!

Ingredients

  • 1 boiled potato

  • 1 tbsp of boiled green peas

  • 1 tbsp of boiled mixed vegetables

  • 1 tbsp of spinach

  • ½ tsp of salt

  • ½ tsp of turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp red pepper

  • ½ tsp Garam Masala

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • Oil (Olive, Vegetable, Canola, whatever you want)

  • Optional: I love spreading a thin layer of ketchup on each patty. Try it! You might like it too.

Preparation

  1. Boil the potato, green peas, and mixed veggies

  2. Sauté the spinach

  3. Combine and mix the boiled veggies all together with the sautéed spinach

  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix it all together

  5. Rub the oil on your hands

  6. Roll the mixture into a dough

  7. Take a piece of the dough and shape it into a patty. The easiest way to do this is to make a dough ball, then push down on the center.

  8. Coat the patty in all purpose flour and place it on a pan on the stove.

  9. Cook on medium heat until it starts to have some red-brown charring. Once the top side is charred, flip it over and cook the other side. Keep flipping a few times until it becomes easy to flip back and forth (means it's cooked all the way through).

  10. Transfer to a plate

  11. Enjoy!

I've noticed throughout the years that trying to eat these patties with a fork can get a little messy, as delicious as they are. So while it's not as healthy, if you really can't handle the mess, you can use these patties in a sandwich.
