Spaghetti (& Meatballs)

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

You can use any pasta you want! And you don't have to make meatballs! This dish is so versatile and I can think of several different ways to make it. Meatballs, no meatballs, sauce, no sauce, and then there are so many different types of pasta noodles to choose from! I have listed instructions for multiple combinations of this dish. You can follow as many instructions as you want.

Allergens: Wheat, Gluten*

Vegetarian Option**

Ingredients

  • 8 oz packaged spaghetti noodles

  • You can use any type of pasta noodles. I use Trader Giotto's Organic Pasta for all my pasta dishes.

  • *Gluten-free pasta options available. The one pictured here happens to not be gluten-free

  • 16 oz organic ground beef

  • 1/2 red onion

  • Choice amount of minced garlic

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (your choice)

  • I use avocado oil, but any oil works fine

  • 2 tsp of salt

  • 4 quarts of water

  • 32 oz tomato sauce

Preparation

Spaghetti and Meatballs with Sauce:

  1. Please follow my meatball recipe also on this page, and if you don't want to worry about trying to make spaghetti and meatballs at the same time, make the meatballs first, and when they are done cooking, leave them in the pan marinating in the sauce. Move the pan so you can make the spaghetti.

  2. In a large pot, add the water and salt, and bring it to a boil.

  3. Add the spaghetti noodles into the pot.

  4. Boil for 11 minutes and stir frequently. Read the directions on your specific pack of noodles because it could be slightly different.

  5. When it's done boiling turn off the stove and add the noodles to the pan with the meatballs and sauce and thoroughly mix together.

  6. Enjoy!

**Spaghetti with Sauce:

  1. Follow the same instructions listed above in Steps 2-4

  2. While the spaghetti is boiling, or whenever you feel most comfortable, make the sauce.

  3. Add 1 tbsp of cooking oil to a pan and heat for 1 minute on medium heat.

  4. Add the garlic and onion, and sauté in the pan.

  5. Add the tomato sauce and let simmer on low heat. Simmering just keeps something warm, so don't stress about timing too much.

  6. When the spaghetti is done boiling, add it to the pan with the sauce and thoroughly mix together.

  7. Enjoy!

Spaghetti and Meatballs without Sauce:

  1. Meatballs are typically made with sauce, so please refer to my meatball post, and just don't add the sauce after the meatballs are done cooking!

  2. Follow the same instructions listed above (first combination) in Steps 2-4

  3. When the spaghetti is done boiling, add it to a plate and place the meatballs in the plate.

  4. Enjoy!
